7 Days of action – Day 3: We are in the money

Day 3: We are in the money

As we have stated in our report, the importance of the independent sector as a provider of specialist inpatient beds has grown enormously over recent years. In 2015-16, the inpatient healthcare market for people with learning disabilities and/or Autistic Spectrum Disorders (‘ASD’) was estimated to be worth £284 million to the independent sector, most of which operated on a ‘for profit’ basis. The sector now provides more inpatient provision than the NHS and as Transforming Care takes effect we expect that percentage to increase.
